Meaning in this text
One of the eighteen great narrative scriptures of Hinduism, containing teachings on cosmology, genealogy, dharma, and devotion through story. The Srimad Bhagavatam is considered the Mahapurana — the greatest Purana — by Vaishnavas, containing the essence of all the others.
On this site, Purana is treated as a reading aid rather than a final doctrinal definition: use it to move from a question about a term into the chapters where the term actually appears.
